Second MCM Squadron personnel hosted by Penny Mordaunt MP

28 Jun 2023 - MCDOA associate member Cdr Adrian Visram, Commander Second MCM Squadron, headed Second MCM Squadron personnel, including ships’ company members, visiting London on Monday 26 June. The group was hosted by RNR Honorary Captain Penny Mordaunt MP and several other MCDOA members shared the experience.

Penny Mordaunt was commissioned as a Sub Lt in the Royal Naval Reserve from 2010 and was attached to HMS KING ALFRED on Whale Island until May 2015 when she was placed on Reserve 'List 6', a category for personnel unable to meet any training commitment in excess of a year. She remained on List 6 until April 2019, at which point she left the RNR. She was appointed as an Honorary Commander in the RNR in April 2019 and promoted to Honorary Captain RNR on 30 June 2021. First elected as the Member of Parliament for Portsmouth North in May 2010, she has been Leader of the House of Commons and Lord President of the Council since September 2022.

The visit to London by Second MCM Squadron personnel was in reciprocation for Penny Mordaunt’s tour of their base in Portsmouth on 16 June during which she was hosted by HMS CATTISTOCK (MCM2 Crew 1).
