MWA Southern Area Monthly Dit Session

24 Feb 2023 - Members of the MWA (Mine Warfare Association) enjoyed a hugely convivial southern area monthly 'dit session' at the Royal Maritime Club (old Home Club) in Portsmouth last night.

Earlier in the day, former WO(D) Robin Rickard had dropped by my home to borrow some reference books and kindly purchased three of my own publications (profits towards Project Vernon). When he heard I would be seeing his Welsh compatriot Peter 'Taff' Reader in the evening, he generously donated £30 to put behind the bar in memory of their time together in HMS BRONINGTON.

Last night's attendees included joint-MCDOA/MWA members Martyn Holloway, Rob Hoole, Bill Kerr and David Sandiford plus Stephen ‘Bunny’ Warren, John ‘George’ Turnbull, Jim Hawkins and Peter ‘Taff’ Reader.

All MCDOs and MWOs are eligible to join the MWA via its website here. Southern area ‘dit sessions’ are routinely held in different venues in the Portsmouth area on the last Thursday of each month although the next gathering will take place in London on Saturday 18 March starting at 1230.
