Our Ali over halfway across the Atlantic
6 Jan 2025 - As forecast in my article on 14 Sep 2024, MCDOA Treasurer Ali Aindow and her three HMS Oardacious ‘Valkyrie’ team mates, all of whom are fellow female RN personnel, set off from San Sebastian de la Gomera in the Canary Islands on 11 December 2024 to row across the Atlantic to Nelson’s Dockyard in Antigua as participants in the World’s Toughest Row. They are undergoing this challenging ordeal in aid of their sponsored charities: The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) and The Young Women’s Trust.
Midway through the crossing, Ali employed her professional underwater skills to scrape off the surprising number of barnacles that had attached themselves to the boat’s hull, thus slowing their progress.
Ali has also been making good use of her Insta 360 camera.
