A final act of reverence for the late Queen

15 Sep 2022 - In June 2020, former CPO(MW) Gary Burridge and WO1(MW) Terry Briggs visited the Vernon Monument with WO1(MW) Steve Harvey between Covid lockdowns.

Westminster Hall, where the late Queen lies in state, was built in 1097 under William II (Rufus), the son of William the Conqueror. .Yesterday, Yeoman Warder Gary (left) stood guard beside the catafalque on which her coffin rests. Yeoman Warder Terry (right) is due to do the same tonight.

On Monday, the day of the Queen's state funeral, 144 sailors will be hauling the Queen’s lead-lined casket on the Royal Navy’s state gun carriage, normally kept at HMS EXCELLENT.
