Model of HMS BOSSINGTON unveiled at Gunwharf Quays

18 Mar 2026 - Last Saturday (14 March), your humble Vice Chairman & Webmaster attended a highly productive semi-annual meeting of the Ton Class Association’s committee, chaired by Ian Barden, in the Royal Maritime Hotel in Portsmouth.

Afterwards, members and their wives moved on to the Old Customs House pub in Gunwharf Quays (formerly HMS VERNON) where Sam Cook’s brilliant model of the Ton class minehunter HMS BOSSINGTON was unveiled in the foyer in the presence of TCA President Rear Admiral John Lippiett CB, CBE, DL and his wife Jenny.

As most will be aware, the Old Customs House previously accommodated the offices of the Captain of HMS VERNON where HMS BOSSINGTON, among many other vessels, was based as a member of the Second Mine Countermeasures Squadron. It is immediately adjacent to the Vernon Mine Warfare & Diving Monument.
