Decommissioning of MASTT

25 Oct 2024 - This week has marked the decommissioning of MASTT (Maritime Autonomous System Trials Team) in Portsmouth Naval Base. The ceremony involved MCDOA members Dan Herridge (CO MTXG - Mine Threat Exploitation Group), Simon Pressdee (Capt PUXD - Patrol, Underwater Exploitation & Diving) and Alan Hendry (CO MASTT). Also present was Cdre Paul Pitcher (Commander Surface Flotilla.

 
 

MASTT is to be reintegrated within MTXG as YANKEE SQUADRON UNIT 2. Its Commanding Officer made this statement:

"To all those who have served in MASTT, your dedication and sacrifice have left an indelible mark. You have upheld the proud traditions of the Royal Navy and brought honour to your uniform. The contributions you have made are immeasurable and they will not be forgotten."

 
 

MASTT have been instrumental in the RN's trialling of maritime autonomous systems and their expertise will be put to further use, transitioning to operational capability using the very equipment they've successfully tested and trialled for over a decade. BZ & farewell MASTT!
