Death of 100-year old Sub Lt Boyd Salmon RNVR

30 Dec 2024 - WWII veteran naval bomb & mine disposal officer Boyd Salmon, possibly the last of his breed, crossed the bar on Monday 16 December at the age of 100. He was pre-deceased by his wife Jacqueline and survived by his daughters, Nicola and Anita, plus grandchildren and great grandchildren. I am sure all members of our community will join me in extending our sincere condolences to his family and close friends.

A celebration of Boyd’s life was held at Court Lodge Care Home in Lymington on 23 December. Donations to the Royal British Legion or Salvation Army were requested in lieu of flowers.

Boyd visited Horsea Island last June as I chronicled here.
