Are you still a bona fide MCDOA member?

15 Nov 2023 - It has come to the attention of the Committee that several past members remain under the false impression that their MCDOA membership remains valid because they are still paying their annual membership subscriptions by Standing Order. Even some of those entitled to free Life Membership owing to age (75 or over) or number of years qualified (at least 50) are unaware that their membership has lapsed unless they have re-registered.

Previous membership no longer valid

Three years ago, it was determined that the MCDOA membership database was hugely out of date. Contact details, where held, were often invalid and many of the sources of Standing Orders could not be identified. Moreover, despite repeated announcements and, where possible, emails to offenders, many Standing Orders were still for the old annual membership subscription of £10 despite this having been raised to £15 some nine years previously. Regrettably, the Association does not have the authority to cancel Standing Orders or, indeed, change the amounts they cover.

In order to salvage the situation, it was decided to institute a new GDPR-compliant digital database incorporating a facility for members to update their own details and pay their annual subscriptions by credit/debit cards with annual reminders being sent automatically. This was well publicised for several months in bold red lettering at the top of the Latest News page of the MCDOA's old website and by email where valid addresses were available. This online database is now the definitive version and used to produce routine round robin mail shots to all bona fide members.

Re-apply now

If you have not re-applied for MCDOA membership using the 'new' system within the past three years, you are no longer a bona fide member. Please apply here forthwith:

MOJO MCDOA Membership Database

You will be notified by our Membership Secretary when your application has been checked and approved. You can then complete the membership process by paying your first annual subscription (if applicable) online. 214 applicants have performed this action to date making them eligible to attend our heavily subsidised functions, both in the UK and throughout the world when organised locally. Unless you have added yourself to the official database by re-applying for membership via the MOJO website above, you will not be privy to collective group emailed updates or calling notices, or entitled to attend Association events.

Don't forget to cancel any existing Standing Order. It is now obsolete.

Affiliate membership

N.B. WO(MW)s, WO(D)s and members of our affiliated organisation REBDOC (Royal Engineers Bomb Disposal Officers’ Club) may apply for free Affiliate Membership entitling them to attend our functions too.
