Alas Bound and Jones

28 Apr 2025 - MCDOA past-Chairman Paul Jones has sent me this photo of himself with fellow MCDOA member Simon Bound QGM in Guernsey.

Paul and Simon were course mates on LMCDO ‘88B, together with the late Chris Deere RCN who joined them for their MW module.

Simon was awarded the QGM for his actions during the rescue operation following the MV PRIDE OF FREE ENTERPRISE car ferry disaster at Zeebrugge, on the night of 6 March 1987, while serving in HMS HURWORTH. He was born in Guernsey, where Paul has lived for the past three years, and still has family there so he pops over from his home in Connecticut to catch up with them, sometimes bringing his children. He and Paul have met up a few times on these occasions to ‘shoot the breeze’ and spin dits.
