A Reunion of David Hilton and Steven ‘Peggy’ Neil

10 Jul 2022 I am grateful to MCDOA past-Chairman David Hilton MBE for this charming photo of himself with ex-CPO(D) Steven 'Peggy' Neil & his wife Pauline on the Isle of Wight earlier this week.

Peggy has been a staunch supporter of Project Vernon, the successful campaign to erect a monument at Gunwharf Quays, the former site of HMS VERNON in Portsmouth, commemorating the heritage of HMS VERNON and honouring all those involved - past, present and future - in naval minewarfare, service diving and bomb & mine disposal. He is seen here in July 2009 with the late Cdre Richard Moore, a past-President of the MCDOA.

Although the Vernon Mine Warfare & Diving Monument was installed and unveiled on 17 March 2020, the dedication ceremony, long-delayed owing to the Coronavirus pandemic, is due to take place at Gunwharf Quays on 15 July.
